Ben Hardy has been cast as Daniel West in Prime Video’s upcoming adaptation of Stillwater, the supernatural horror comic created by writer Chip Zdarsky and artist Ramón K Pérez.
Deadline and Variety reported the casting on September 28, 2026.
Hardy’s role is not an unnamed addition to the ensemble: Daniel West is the story’s central character.
What Stillwater is about
The series is based on Skybound’s Stillwater, which launched as a comic in 2020.
Skybound describes the property as horror built around a town where nobody dies. The television adaptation follows Daniel West, an ex-con who receives a mysterious letter promising answers about his past and an inheritance in the town of Stillwater.
Once there, he discovers a community where people do not age, nobody dies and leaving is not treated as an ordinary option.
That premise is part of the officially announced adaptation, not speculation about what the series might change from the comic.
Prime Video already ordered eight episodes
The casting announcement follows Prime Video’s formal series order from July 2026.
The project received an eight-episode order and is being developed as a one-hour horror thriller.
Greg Berlanti and Carly Wray are writing the adaptation and executive producing.

The original comic was created by Zdarsky and Pérez, with Skybound continuing to identify it as a horror series centered on immortality, human nature and the secrets of an isolated community.
What Ben Hardy’s casting confirms
The September 28 reports establish one major piece of the live-action adaptation:
Ben Hardy will play Daniel West.
Hardy has appeared in projects including Bohemian Rhapsody, X-Men: Apocalypse and The Conjuring: Last Rites.
The casting also confirms that the adaptation is moving beyond its initial series-order stage and into public lead-cast announcements.
What has not been announced
The current reports do not establish:
- a premiere date;
- a trailer date;
- a full supporting cast;
- how closely every comic storyline will be adapted;
- whether the complete comic run will be covered in the first season.
Morbid Index is not filling those gaps with casting rumors or adaptation theories.
For now, the confirmed development is straightforward: Ben Hardy is Daniel West, and Prime Video’s Stillwater remains an eight-episode horror adaptation of the Skybound comic.
Why Stillwater fits horror coverage
Skybound itself classifies Stillwater around horror and supernatural intrigue.
Its central idea is not simply immortality as fantasy. The horror comes from what a community becomes when death stops functioning as a limit — and from what its residents are willing to do to keep that condition contained.
That gives the adaptation a clear horror identity before any trailer arrives.
When Prime Video releases an official trailer, footage or premiere date, those developments will warrant a separate update or trailer page rather than being guessed from the current casting news.
